Athletics
Athletics offer rich opportunities for student-athletes to develop, set goals, and pursue excellence. Central High School is proud to maintain a competitive program that aligns with and strengthens our academic mission.
CHS teams emphasize hard work, teamwork, perseverance, and citizenship. These skills extend far beyond the classroom and prepare students for success in life. We strive to help every athlete excel both academically and athletically while fostering personal growth and responsibility.
Student-athletes must demonstrate good sportsmanship, attend and participate in classes, and show respect for peers, faculty, and staff. To take part in a game or practice, athletes must be present at school for at least 3 hours and 15 minutes that day, per Knox County Board policy.
Students interested in playing sports at the collegiate level should begin NCAA Clearinghouse registration by the end of their sophomore year. Not all high school courses are NCAA-approved, so it’s important to review academic schedules with the Guidance Department early. Additional information and assistance are available through the Guidance Office.
